James Kelley is fighting to Increase Opportunities for All Fluvanna Students

Fluvanna students and staff have accomplished so much in the past four years, but there is much left to do.  Together we can ensure that Fluvanna County Public Schools is a division that meets the needs of ALL students and families.

Putting Students First

Fluvanna County Public Schools are here to meet the needs of the community’s students. Our overarching mission is education, and therefore classroom policies and practices need to align to benefit students above all else. A successful education involves a strong and comprehensive curriculum, skilled and thoughtful educators, and resources to meet individual students’ needs. This focus on students drives my decisions, for instance, supporting initiatives that reduced class sizes, especially in grades K-2, and adding critical reading, math, and behavioral specialists to aid students.

On The Issues

Mental and Behavioral Health

Students can only learn when they are well-rested, fed, and free from physical and psychological harm, including bullying.

Parent Involvement and Communication

The strength of a school system can be measured by the level of involvement by parents and the community.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

EVERY Fluvanna student should have marketable skills upon graduation, and CTE programs need to expand to meet the demands of a diverse and changing economy.

Hiring and Retaining Talented Staff

All staff should be valued, feel valued, and receive competitive compensation. My record has demonstrated a commitment to increasing staff pay so that we can hire and retain talented professionals.
